Thanks for the great info. I went to Cass Tech HS in Detroit and used to catch the Grand River bus right in front of the Grande Ballroom. I was 15, to young and innocent to go to the shows, but I remember all the names posted on the marque. To this day there is still no music to me like MC5, Frost, (early) Bob Seger, Stooges. Anyone seen the Frost reunion shows (minus Gordy Garris). Anyone have the 66-67 bootleg CD for Seger before he sold out and went mainstream?

ALL Frut members are alive and kickin'and I have the most brain cells in tact(4) of all the former Frut's. Cub Koda attention! We didn't dislike Brownsville Station. It's just that Tony was always trying to pick up Red's chick at gigs. Hence, Norms less than flattering remark in the CREEM interview regarding Brownsville. Also, it must be noted we chose to become performance artists as opposed to musical technicians. We love you man, keep up the good work!

What a superb surprise! I had no idea this website existed till I stumbled upon it on the way somewhere else, but isn't that Rock 'n Roll? I was amazed at the Sherwood Forest concert info and poster pictures, but am sad to report that Don Sherwood, owner of the facility, passed away just two short weeks ago in Cheboygan at the age of 80. Other than this, "Your WTAC Emergency Message Center Reports ALL CLEAR". Yes, and Kid Rock Rules. Best to all, "Peter C."

Sure is a trip to listen to old Seger, Rationals, MC5, Bossmen, Terry Knight and The Pack, ecxt.ect. I was in a band back in the mid to late 60's and had a chance to play with some of these bands. Remember going to Mt.Holly, Romeo Youth Center, Friday nite dances at Imlay City. Great times, Great music, and a great site to re-live them. Keep up the great work. Originally from North Branch, Mi. Hey there, Just got turned on to your site. Pretty weird overall look but its packed full of great info so what the fuck! I'm a former resident of Roseville. There was a Hullabaloo club there too. It was on just of off Groesbeck Highway (M97.) When I was in high school (Roseville High) I used to paint the band names in the front windows every week and I was also the body painter there. It was owned by the Suber family who lost their shirts on it. There was also a Crows Nest in St. Claire Shores at 13 mile and Jefferson in a shopping center there. I saw the MC5 play there the night they signed their Electra contract. Nice site. I'll check it out more in the future.

Killer web site. I really miss those days. Used to go see all the Michigan bands at Wamplers Lake Pavillion. Me and my friends would get a campsite at Hayes State Park, go to the pavillion and party all night, then go back to the campsite to crash. Used to love seeing the SRC and Savage Grace there. One of my first concerts was SRC and the Amboy Dukes at the Adrian High School auditorium. Also used to check out the bands at the Free John Sinclair concerts in Ann Arbor. Went to Goose Lake in 1970. When I got home my dad held up a copy of the Detroit News that said "500 Bad Trips at Goose Lake" and asked me if I had had one. Anyways those were good times. Really appreciate the effort that went into this site, and reading other peoples memories of those great times, great music. -ed

Great, great site!...and I've never even been to Detroit. What a great scene you had up there! Surfed on in by linking from the Motor City's Burning web page, linked there from the Jeep Holland tribute page. I knew Jeep as a promo person in Boston when I lived up there and worked in a record store during the mid 70's. In New York, I heard the MC5's record in early '69 played on WBAI's Radio Unnameable. I went right out and bought it. I love Gary Grimshaw's posters and one of Cream's classic concerts that circulates among collectors was the one in the Grande Ballroom. Skoolkids Records had a wide reputation since I'd heard of them in Boston. Again, great site, I love how detailed it is! Keep up the good work! - Ed

I worked (roadie, performer and all around do it all) at the Birmingham Palladium, Eastown and various concert venues, and for various groups, and was occasionally guitar and singer in Everlon Nevermore, performed with some members of Sky (now some in the Knack) drove Peter Green and Mic Fleetwood around whenever they were in town as a favor to the promoter. Became good friends. Also Mutzie ex close friend, played music together. Others I met and knew well or not so well, or worked for from 69' to 72', Leslie West and Felix P., Bob Seger and his groups, Alice Cooper, Alan Nathanson (Everlon Nevermore), Scratch (well known fun Detroit person) Russ Gibb, Rod Stewart,(See him occasionally in Palm Beach where I live) Keith Emmerson, Eric Burdon, and many others. Now believe it or not I am a prominent attorney in Palm Beach. If any one remembers me send me an E-mail. Check my picture at www.jgreenwald.com --- note my hair was longer back then. I only just heard about this site, so I've just started to check it out. I was a member of the band "Sweet Wine", out of Allen Park, Mi. and we were the 'warm up band' at the Grande Ballroom, on Saturday, Feb. 02, 1969, opening up for Spirit and Jethro Tull. There was no artwork for that weekend's lineup of events. I have an old photo of Jethro Tull 'practicing' in the empty ballroom, while we were loading our equipment in; Mick Abrams was still the guitar player for Tull and the "This Was" L.P. was brand new at the time. A mammoth undertaking, and a most worthwhile one at that. A few omissions (the Shy Guys, Janie Coe) and a few chronological errors ("Persecution Smith" is January 1967). But this is the sort of project that never really ends, since Michigan turned out such an enormous amount of great rock and roll at the time. Keep us posted!

These shows were just before I was able to get out and listen to the Motor City Music and am glad to see all this information being put together. My neighbor was involved with All The Lonely People and the guys in the neighborhood were big fans of the Frost & Ted Nugent.
