"It was early
1969. Emcee Dave Miller, as usual, came to the mic between bands. He announced
the bands for the next few weeks and looking into a hand-scrawled note, he
said, 'Next week we have Led, Lud, Led Zeet? Well, I really am not sure, but it
is the new band for Jimmy Page.' He made it sound so unappealing I missed the
next week's show. Who knew it was LED ZEPPELIN? Can you imagine seeing them at
the Grande?"

"What stands out most is that there was absolutely nobody at the
Grande that night to see Zeppelin play. I'm not exaggerating when I say there
may have been 35 people there. We sat down right in front of the stage and were
treated to a personal concert, which featured songs from Zeppelin's
just-released first album. When the show was over, the Grande staff turned on
the lights, the band unplugged their instruments and walked down offstage onto
the dance floor, like they had just played a gig at some high school
dance."
